Its a girl!!!!

Quick stats:

Name: Edelyn Aybra Morgen (She is being called Aybra)
Weight: 1# 9oz (I believe they said 885 grams but not sure)
Length: 14 inches
Time of Birth: 8.28pm (so much for starting around 5.30)

I did get to see her last night for a little bit. I havent gotten to go yet today. Ive only been up once out of bed today and it was rough. I have to wait until I get up again and shower before I can go and I just cant do it yet.

She was coming head first yesterday morning and sometime during the day she flipped around. During the c-section he cut a transverse incision. When he was trying to get her out he couldnt really reach because her feet were kind of scrunched up so he had to cut a "t" incision. Then parts of the placenta were stuck in the uterus and I had placenta acreta (didnt know about it until the section) so they had to get the placenta out and stuff. It was very painful during the section. I was numbed up pretty good but the pressure was very painful. Instead of it taking the normal 30-40 minutes start to finish it took an hour and a half. She is pretty bruised up from it on her legs and stuff but Im glad I ended up having the c-section instead of delivering vaginally since I had the acreta. But now the only thing is my uterus is stitched in a few places and if I ever have another child I will have to have another c-section.

I made sure to have them check her back in the Delivery room and they said she is perfect. No spina bifida... But I still want to check for myself.

They let me view the entire c-section from start to finish (Gotta love birth plans). They never put the drape up and they didn't even strap my hands down to the little boards. Eden (Babies Dad) and Fallon (My sister) were in the OR with me and they got to see it all too. I put in my birth plan that I wanted to take pictures and videos and they said ok to the pictures but not video.... but when we got back there they didnt want any pictures :( We snuck a few in but none of them turned out good. Fallon got some pictures last night when she went and saw her but she didn't use the flash so a lot of them didn't turn out too good.

They did not let me announce the gender... The freaking neonatalogist was giving a little update to the doctor as he was working on the placenta and he kept saying "She" :( The nurse that was assisting the doctor asked me if I wanted to know what the baby was before they took it to the NICU and I told her no I already heard them and then I just started crying. I was so angry that they announced it. It was written all over the room not to say anything that I wanted to find out for myself.

She had pretty good APGAR scores (5 and 7) She tried to cry and was pretty successful at it but it was a very weak cry and took all of her energy so they put her on a vent but that wasnt surprising. I figured they were going to anyway. She was doing so good at first that she was just on room air but now she is on a little oxygen (around 33%). Her lungs look pretty good considering things. She did have to have a blood transfusion last night but I kind of expected that. She will have first few ultrasounds and stuff on Wednesday and Thursday.

The number to the room I am in now is 501.202.2234

Ill update more later. I have to go pump now and try to shower and then go and see her.

Congrats on the girl. I am mom of a 1.5 lb preemie boy who is now 2 years old.

Oh..the metric conversions...1lb 9 oz would be more like ~700 grams. 885 grams would be more like 2 lb 7 oz. It is about 28 grams per ounce.

Congrats!

ty was 750 grams and was 1 lb 11 ounces. So I think the grams might be off. I am so glad it is a girl and i am so glad she is a fighter

Congrats on your little girl! Since a few others have given it a shot and unfortunately the conversion from grams to ounces is engraved permanently in my head, 28.35grams to 1oz so if she weighed 885grams she was actually 1lb 15.2oz so a pretty average size for a 26wkr.

Congratulations!
I'm so sorry the delivery was so difficult...and GGGGRRRRRRR to the people who announced her gender instead of you. I'm glad Aybra is doing so well though.
